Barac's Caves
More than fifty percent of the Croatian area is made of calcareous rocks. Their characteristic to easily melt in water enables, in share of water and limestone, the creation of distinctive relief with great number of karst forms.
In Croatia the karst extends from Istria, over Croatian Littoral, Gorski Kotar, Kordun, Lika and Dalmatia all the way to the Monte Negro border.
It is the integral part of the Dinaric Karst, a singular limestone mountain named after Dinara Mountain and situated on the border between Croatian and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Barac's Caves are located approximately six kilometres east of Rakovica (Main Road: Zagreb-Split), little more than half a kilo-metre west of the centre of the village of Nova Kršlja.
The entrance to all three caves is located on the north side of Barac's mountain.
A horse farm belonging to the caves is to be found at the cave entrance. After having visited the caves the guests can enjoy in:
- horse riding
- horse riding for beginners
- guided horse riding excursions
